Has anyone any ideas if the next Framework will be an update to version
1.1 or another completely new install so that people have 3 Frameworks on

No. If you uninstall v1.1, Studio curls up in a heap and dies, unable
to find its compiler! It is supposedly possible to write code (in Studio
2003) that will run on v1.0 of the Framework - never tried it though.
