We are currently using TFS 2010 and MTM 2010 for our projects. We wanted to try out the new MTM 2012 on TFS 2010 as MTM 2012 has better performance.

I've executed the manual tests created in MTM 2010 using MTM 2012 and saved the tests with the updated status.

After the new status is saved, i tried accessing the same tests using MTM 2010. As soon as i select the test i get the error 'MTM.exe has stopped working' and restarts MTM.

Can i update tests created using MTM 2010 using MTM 2012? After updates are done, can i access the same test in both versions of Test Manager?

I suppose the issue is you are using TFS 2010, a test case is created in MTM 2010, and been run in MTM 2010 first. Then, you re-run the test case in MTM 2012. If I miss-understand anything, please free feel to let me know.

I test the issue in my side, I use MTM 2010 run test case in TFS 2010, then re-run the test case in MTM 2012. The result is I can open test case and test result in MTM 2010 again without any issue.
