The problem I'm facing now is the following. My serialization/deserialization works fine on my webapp, however it does not on my unit tests. When I run/debug them, I see I'm having the same problem I was having before (the one on the other stackoverflow post). How did you deploy it? Your container's lib folder could contain extra jars not available on your test scope, hence the classpath difference.
